4D powered by Stax is an integrated credit card processing service that allows practices to accept credit card via card swipers, manual entry, and text‑to‑pay links.
4D PAY by Stax Accepted Payment Methods
To begin using this service, practices must establish a merchant account directly with Stax Merchant Services. Stax will complete underwriting, configure the account, and ship any required payment terminals.
Once the terminals arrive, practices should power them on, connect them to the local network, and follow the terminal setup instructions provided below.
After the terminals are set up, practices should review the steps below for connecting the devices to the local network and using the features available in the Stax Pay Admin Portal.
Steps to Set Up Your Stax Merchant Account

Account Setup with Stax Merchant Services
- Upon request, a member of the 4D EMR Sales Team will submit your practice’s contact information to Stax Merchant Services.
- Stax will contact your practice to begin the merchant account setup process.
- Once Stax underwriting is approved, Stax will provision your new merchant account and configure and ship your payment terminals.

Linking Your Merchant Account to 4D
- 4D EMR technical staff will link your newly approved Stax merchant account within the 4D system.

Terminal Setup
- When your terminals arrive, your practice should set them up as described in the setup instructions provided in the link below.

Stax Pay Admin Portal Access
- Confirm your access to the Stax Pay Admin Portal and add any additional users as needed, following the instructions in the link below.
