v164 - May 7, 2026 Update

In our last release, we announced the launch of 4D AI Scribe. 4D AI Scribe uses AI-powered scribing and dictation to simplify clinical documentation by turning patient conversations into chart notes and supporting speech-to-text dictation.

A free two-week trial began on May 1 and will conclude on May 15. During the trial period, 4D Scribe is automatically enabled for all offices with access to patient charting. Standard pricing for 4D Scribe is $175 per month per user.

Release 164 includes several new features and usability improvements across 4D EMR. Many of the updates in this release were created from user feature suggestions and feedback.

This release also includes multiple improvements to AI Scribe, including expanded browser support, custom templates, the ability to minimize recordings, and a new Save as Draft option.

Additional updates include the ability to restore cancelled appointments, a new Fillers Treatment Table, a Photo Slideshow viewer, expanded InstaAnnounce Group messaging options, an updated Phonebook layout, and a new Revenue Sorted report for revenue analysis.

Release Highlights

AI Scribe Improvements

Several improvements have been made to AI Scribe to enhance compatibility and overall usability. AI Scribe now supports additional browsers, including older versions of Safari, and includes a fix that prevents iOS Safari from going to sleep during recordings.

Users can now minimize AI Scribe while recording to help prevent accidentally stopping a recording during a patient visit.

AI Scribe also now supports custom templates, allowing practices to tailor documentation to their workflow. Contact 4D EMR Support for assistance creating your own templates.

In addition, a new Save as Draft option has been added alongside Save & Finalize, providing more flexibility when reviewing and completing documentation.

Restore Cancelled Appointments

Cancelled appointments can now be restored directly from the schedule. If cancelled appointments are hidden, they can be displayed by clicking Options and selecting Show Inactive. Once visible, users can right click on a cancelled appointment to restore it without creating a new appointment manually.

New Treatment Table - Fillers

Release 164 includes the next Treatment Table option: Fillers. The Filler Treatment Table can be found by going to Patients > Clinical > Treatment Tables > Fillers. The Filler Treatment Table can be used to log lot numbers, expiration dates, and the number of units of any injectable configured as a filler in Practice > Products > Product List.

The table can be converted into a chart note using the +Chart Note button. These notes are created as stand-alone notes separate from visit notes, and they are automatically signed by the user when created. If the treatment note type is flagged as requiring provider co-signature, they will be sent to the provider for final review.

In order to use the Treatment Table along with Drawings in a chart note, it is recommended to first create the chart note from the Treatment Table. The signed note can be opened and edited to include the stamped drawing.

Photo Slideshow

The Photo Slideshow makes it easy to view and browse multiple images in a full screen gallery. Users can navigate through photos using arrow keys on desktop devices or swipe gestures on touch devices. A thumbnail strip at the bottom allows quick access to any image, and an optional autoplay mode can automatically advance photos every 4 seconds.

Allow All Users to Message an InstaAnnounce Group

InstaAnnounce Groups can now be configured to allow non-members to send messages to a group without joining it. Internal replies and conversations between group members remain private and are not visible to non-members.

Instannounce Groups are created and configured by going to Practice > Admin > Instannounce Groups.

Updated Phone Book

The 4D EMR Phonebook has been updated with a simpler, easier-to-use contact list that replaces the previous contact card layout. Private contacts are now clearly marked with a lock icon and are only visible to the user who created them.

New Report - Revenue Sorted

The Revenue Sorted report makes it easy to analyze revenue data by zip code, age range, gender, or billing status. This helps users quickly spot trends and better understand where revenue is coming from.
