Help Center4D EMR uses an embedded editor similar to Microsoft Word or Google Docs to create and edit forms for Chart Notes and patient paperwork. This editor is capable of importing a Microsoft Word (DOCX or DOC) file or RTF files, however it is unable to import a PDF file directly. PDF files must be converted to DOCX or RTF before they can be uploaded or copied into the 4D EMR Form Library.
Converting a PDF to DOCX
Adobe software provides a free tool that converts PDF documents into usable DOCX files: Adobe PDF to Word Converter (open in incognito mode if prompted to create an account).
It is also possible to use Microsoft Word to convert a .pdf to .docx for import. Using Word to convert a PDF file to a DOCX file type.
- Open Microsofot Word
- Click on Open and browse to the PDF file
- Word will atempt to convert the file to a DOCX format.
- Click OK to any prompts such as the one below
- Click OK to any prompts such as the one below
- The .pdf will be opened in Microsoft Word.
- If present, click on “Enable Editing” in the gold toolbar. Make any edits or correctons to the file. Complex forms may require significant reformaƫng to display correctly
- Click on the Filetab and save the document to your computer.
Importing a DOCX or DOC file into the 4D EMR Forms Library
- Go to Practice > Charting > Forms Library
- Click on the Open file folder button
- Browse to the DOCX file you wish to upload
- Click on the Import button
