Help CenterLogical Access Control (LAC) is the final authorization step when configuring ePrescribing. In this step, an administrator-level user must verify the prescribing provider's identity and grant final authorization. This is a federal requirement and must be completed before ePrescribing can be used. Completing LAC requires the ePrescribing administrator and the licensed prescriber to be present at the same computer.
To find out who the administrator level users for your office are please contact 4D EMR support at support@4d-emr.com or 844-878-2434. DrFirst administrator users can only be configured by 4D EMR support staff and may differ from the SuperUsers in 4D EMR.
If you are a DrFirst admin user, follow these steps to grant final authorization and enable LAC:
- Open 4D EMR using the Chrome browser. Safari and Edge will cause authentication errors and should not be used.
- Select a patient that has a name, address, phone number, and birthday
- Go to Clinical > ePrescribe
- Click on the Menu icon found in the top blue bar of DrFirst
- Select Utilities then select Logical Access Control (LAC)
- Mark the povier as Active by moving the radio button
- Enter your (the administrator's) first and last name in the box to confirm
- Enter the provider's NPI then click validate
- The provider must then:
Enter their EPCS Passphrase set during registristration
- Select a token from the drop down
- Using the selected token either enter the 6-digit PIN or approve the Push Notification. Note: It is very important to use the token selected.
- Click Authorize
- Scroll up to view the success message and confirm the provider is now ACTIVE
