Before resetting Signing Passphrase, please confirm the credentials are being entered in the correct fields: DrFirst Rcopia: Signing Passphrase vs. Signature Password
How to Reset Your EPCS Passphrase
The Signing Passphrase is the secret phrase required when signing EPCS (controlled‑substance) prescriptions.
Because it is part of DEA‑required security, DrFirst and 4D EMR cannot retrieve or show your old passphrase—it can only be reset after identity verification.
IMPORTANT: You must have access to your token device/app to perform the reset. If you do not have access, please contact 4D EMR support to schedule a time to repeat the EPCS identity‑proofing/registration process.
- Navigate to this web address: DrFirst Password Reset
- Enter your NPI and the Serial Number / Credential ID from your EPCS token, and click Next Step

- Enter your email address and one-time pin (OTP) / security code from your
token.

- The system will send an email to your EPCS registered email with instructions to reset your passphrase.
- Once you locate the email, click on the Reset Passphrase link to start the process.

- You will then need to input your NPI number and Serial Number / Credential ID from your EPCS token.

- Next, enter a newly generated one-time pin (OTP) / security code from your token to authenticate yourself

- You will then be prompted to answer your security question.

- Enter and confirm a new passphrase.
